Dennis is joined via Zoom by author and blogger Matthew Rettenmund to talk about the brand new revised edition of his book Encyclopedia Madonnica, which is just like it sounds, a 700+ page guidebook for all things Madonna. He talks about the starting work on the first edition of the book back in 1995, what makes this new edition special, the process of choosing the photos and why he chose to make a hardcover edition for the first time. He also recalls his first exposure to Madonna, his massive collection of Madonna memorabilia, the multiple times he’s encountered her in person and the time he finally got to get a photo with her and the sassy thing she said to him. Dennis shares his own Madonna touchstone moments, like the failed Blond Ambition dance audition that started his writing career and getting to interview her for Bedtime Stories and asking her if she ever had sex to her own music.
