Welcome to Dennis Anyone, a podcast about making things up and making things happen. I love to talk to creative types about what they do and how they do it. Hope you enjoy my conversations as much as I do. - Dennis H.

Dennis sits down with film and TV writer Chuck Hayward to talk about his breakthrough year as a writer and story editor on the Netflix series "Dear White People," and the screenwriter of two upcoming film comedies "Fat Camp" and "Step Sisters." Chuck explains why "Dear White People" was the best writers room experience he's had to date in his career and recalls collaborating with "Moonlight" Oscar-winner Barry Jenkins who directed an episode Chuck co-wrote. He also talks about making his feature screenwriting debut with "Fat Camp," a raucous R-rated comedy about a kids' fitness camp that premiers this month at the L.A. film festival then hits VOD in July. He also talks about writing this fall's "Step Sisters" about a young black woman who teaches a white sorority how to step and how he hopes it will appeal to the same folks who loved "Bring It On" and "Pitch Perfect." Other topics include: growing up in Delaware, coming out to his family, summer camp scandal, diversity in Hollywood, "The Cosby Show," the most unprofessional behavior he's ever witnessed, his lowest point, the Bentley ride that nearly did him in and getting mooned. He also plays a voicemail that a friend left him from a Beer Fest that is guaranteed to make you smile.
